P.S. In this series, we used Google Maps and created a list to share the places we covered for your convenience. Check it out here!

1. Hop on a Magical Hot Air Balloon Ride over Bagan

Bagan Hot Air Balloon

This jaw-dropping view unfolds as the hot air balloon rises in the air and the rolling landscape of Bagan unravels before your eyes. The beautiful stupas of pagodas that dot the area look like daytime stars. Definitely an experience of a lifetime. This sets visitors back at least US$300, but the glorious sunrise view you get in exchange? Priceless. The ride is weather dependent, hence do allocate some extra days for rebooking should the ride get cancelled. The hot air balloon season in Bagan begins in October and ends around mid April.

2. Snap the Perfect Instagram Shot in Bagan

Because of the rising tourist influx, the Myanmar government has started taking protective measures for their national sites by banning climbing on the pagodas. Nevertheless, Bagan still offers a couple of secret spots where tourists can take in a panoramic view of the peaceful landscape atop a pagoda. Below are some of the notable spots to take extraordinary Instagram photos atop a temple or pagoda!

3. Catch the Florid Orange Sunrise over the Bagan Temples

Bagan Sunrise Hot Air Balloons

Ohh.. the majestic hues of orange! Watching the sunrise in Bagan is an absolute must. Do so from any of the many temples and pagodas scattered around the area. Better yet, if budget permits, witness the golden sun cloak the lush green grass in an enchanting shade of amber while riding a hot air balloon. Opting to watch from the ground? Lowka Oushang Temple offers a decent lookout spot being relatively crowd-free. Google map link here.

4. Explore the Majestic Ananda Temple

Ananda Temple Bagan Myanmar

The Ananda Phaya is one of the last, and arguably the most beautifully preserved, of Mon architecture. Known as the most loved temple in Bagan, the Ananda Temple boasts a unique feature, the Sikhara, which juts out on top of the pagoda and is visible all around Bagan. Despite damages from an earthquake in 1975, the temple has been restored. After sundown, see it bathed in a mystic glow from several spotlights.

5. Pursue Cooler Weather (and a Grand View) at Mt. Popa

Mt Popa Myanmar

48km away from old Bagan, a fort-like structure sits atop a mountain peak. Introducing the Taung Kalat Monastery, with its commanding presence overlooking the lush greenery below. Nestled among the flora is the Popa Mountain Resort, offering a panoramic view of the Taung Kalat Monastery. If you are experiencing some pagoda-chasing fatigue, this is the best place to just sit back, relax, and just be. Get lost in your thoughts as you float in the infinity pool watching the sunset.

6. More Temple Hopping at Sulamani Guphaya Temple

Sulamani Temple Bagan

After re-energizing, it’s time for more temples! Sulamani Guphaya, also known as Sulamani Pahto, was built in 1183 during the rule of King Narapatisithu. This elegant temple is just 1.5km southeast of ancient Bagan in the Minnanthu region. The Sulamani temple has two storeys and a square layout with terraces on the top floor. Terracotta plaques depicting Buddha’s early life, called Jataka tales, can be found hanging by the entrance.

7. Climb the Steps of the Shwesandaw Pagoda

Myanmar Honeymoon - Shwesandaw Pagoda - Gern Eichmann

Shwesandaw Pagoda was constructed almost a thousand years ago in 1057 by King Anawrahta when he finally captured Thaton. He had this circular monument made to serve as the centrepiece of his brand new kingdom. This pagoda was also referred to as Ganesh or Mahapeine, named after the Hindu god with an elephant head, of whose images once adorned the terracotta plates and statues at the five terraces of the temple. The top of Shwesandaw Pagoda is a multi-tiered spire, known as a hti, which is shaped like a mini umbrella.

8. Get a 360-degree view of the Bagan Plains at Bulethi

Bulethi Pagoda used to be one of the favourites when it comes to climbing up and enjoying the magnificence of the Bagan plains. Access to its staircases has been restricted recently, but that does not mean the pagoda itself isn’t worth seeing. Located very close to the centre of the plain, enjoy a 360-degree view of the two thousand temples and pagodas of Bagan. Bulethi is also a popular spot to watch the sunrise, so come early if you want a good spot. Look up and marvel at hot air balloons gliding gently up the skies!

9. Watch the Shwezigon Paya Light Up the Night Sky

Shwezigon Night Bagan

The brilliant golden zedi of the Shwezigon Pagoda serves as the primary worship site of the town of Nyaung U. This particular pagoda is known for Myanmar’s most important nat or spirit. Three tiers of balconies peppered with Jataka enamelled plaques rise up at 160 feet, and another 160 feet makes up its stupa, all of which are surrounded by a gated wall. The Shwezigon Pagoda was built by King Anawrahta and added on to by King Kyanzittha. There is a 13-foot bronze Buddha image in each direction – north, south, east, and west. While its shimmering splendour dazzles in the morning, it is equally beautiful at night when lit up by spotlights.

10. Stand where a King was Chosen at Htilominlo Pahto

Htilominlo Bagan

One can’t help but spend some time taking in the intricate exterior of this ancient pagoda. Standing 150 feet tall, Htilominlo temple is named after the prince was chosen to be king using a white umbrella. Legend states that King Narapatisithu had his five sons stand in a circle right where this temple stands. Placing a white umbrella in their midst, whichever son the umbrella points at will be king. Htilominlo was the lucky chosen one, but history states that he was more into books and knowledge than ruling a kingdom. When you visit, be sure to check out the carvings of female creatures from Myanmar myths.

11. Visit the Infamous Dhammayangyi Temple

Dhammayangyi Temple Bagan

Built in the 12th century by King Narathu, Dhammayangyi is steeped in dark history. Its mammoth size is said to house walled-up inner passages that no one knows the uses for. Apparently, this structure is the king’s attempt to pay for his sins – murdering his father and brother. He also killed one of his wives for performing Hindu rituals. The Eastern entrance serves as the main entry point, while images of the Gautama Buddha and Maitreya Buddha are visible at the west side.

12. Try Your Hand at Haggling at the Mani-Sithu Market

Mani Sithu Market

Head to Lanmadaw Road and follow it to the end to get to the Mani-Sithu Market. Open from Monday to Saturday from 6:00am to 5:00pm, get a fill of Burmese souvenirs and local snacks here. Looking for lacquerware but have limited budget for authentic ones? You can find very high-quality faux lacquerware in this market. You may also buy the material for making a thanaka here, which is a face mask worn by the locals.

13. Visit a Traditional Lacquerware Workshop

Lacquerware Bagan

Lacquerware is probably the “it” souvenir to get in Myanmar. You will see many of these in the local markets as well as in other parts of Myanmar, but authentic lacquerware is actually a speciality of Bagan. If you are looking for the real thing, visit lacquerware workshops like Mya Thit Sar or Bagan House Lacquerware Workshop in New Bagan. Here you can watch locals make the elaborate pieces, starting with the bamboo base and layering glaze after glaze before painting on finishing embellishments using needles. An authentic Bagan lacquerware piece can cost up to a few hundred dollars, so line up your pockets if you are looking for one.

14. Visit the Two Beautiful Nat Siblings at Tharabar Gate

Myanmar Honeymoon - Tharabar Gate - Tyler ser Noche

This ancient structure was built in 849 AD by King Pyinbya and is the only one left standing out of the 12 gates. The name Tharabar means “shielded against arrows”. Legend has it that this ancient gate is guarded by two nats, or Myanmar spirits. When you pass through the gate, on one side you will see the brother, known as “Lord of the Great Mountain” or “Lord Handsome”. On the other side is his sister, “Lady Golden Face”. It is said that a cowardly king was scared of the brother, so he married Lady Golden Face to lure the brother out. Lord Handsome most certainly came for his sister, and the king burned him at the stake, prompting Lady Golden Face to jump into the fire with her brother, with all but her face getting burnt.

15. Check out Local Life and Culture at Minnanthu Village

Minnanthu Village

Minnanthu Village is the perfect place to get a truly authentic encounter with Myanmar people. The villagers are very friendly, accommodating, and will help show you around. Over here, you can watch women spin and weave cotton, make lacquerware, prepare local cuisine and other things you will not normally get to experience as a tourist.

Besides its abundance of shorelines, this resort also has several unique accommodations. On our first night, we stayed in their signature floating cottage called Dreams. This cottage hovers over clear blue water on stilts, giving you an uninterrupted view of the glittering horizon. You can even dive right into the water from the deck! We enjoyed the breakfast buffet out on the patio surrounded by the wonderful sea breeze. On our second night, we transferred to Eternitree, a traditional Filipino-style hut nestled on sturdy branches of a giant tree! This tree house accommodation is honestly unlike any other. It can fit three people and the height gave us a magnificent view of the surroundings.

One thing that we highly recommend is their in-room massage. The expert hands of the masseuse kneaded all our tension away, leaving us so satisfied that we requested for another session the next night! As for activities, we had a lot of fun riding ATVs through rugged ATV course.. The sandbar tour, which involved riding and snorkeling out of a Philippine outrigger boat, was also enjoyable.

For your wedding or honeymoon, Stilts Calatagan will customize a package that’ll fit your dream ceremony. The high level of attention that the staff gave us made this stay one of the most comfortable we’ve had. Indeed, Stilts Calatagan Beach Resort’s island paradise vibe makes it the perfect escape that’s not far from the metro.

Best Venues for a Wedding Staycation in Tagaytay

Preparing for a wedding is no doubt as stressful as it is exciting. But as one quote goes, “Sometimes, it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination.” The road to this new chapter in two people’s lives will be part of all the stories yet to be told about their big day, so it deserves to be just as special as the celebration itself. One of the best parts of a wedding is creating all these special memories with all your close friends and family, all in one memorable setting. With all the planning and preparation, it can be hard to spend time with each and every guest as much as you want. A wedding staycation gives you an extended weekend to spend with your entourage and close family, without having to worry about coordinating schedules or meeting up with multiple groups of people.

With this in mind, we compiled a list of properties in Tagaytay where you can experience the best wedding staycation. Located in a cooler part of sunny Philippines, these hotels offer high-quality accommodations, services, and venues for your ceremony and reception. Guests will be treated with sweeping views of Taal Lake and a certain degree of seclusion that will make your pre-wedding, post-wedding, and the wedding day itself relaxing, romantic, and infinitely special.

1. The Inn at Cliffhouse

Couples who are tired of crowded streets and concrete jungles will be whisked away from that stressful reality when they come to the Inn at Cliffhouse. Hidden in plain view along Tagaytay’s slopes and favorably located right along the main ridge, this getaway is designed to provide a safe harbour to anyone who stays in one of its four lighthouse-inspired suites. Personalized service and discretion go hand in hand here, which is perfect for those longing for peaceful, quiet times with the right amount of pampering with the added bonus of having leisurely access to some of the town’s best restaurants and dishes.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a hot cup of cocoa and then shown to our suite. The Inn at Cliffhouse has some of the most spacious suites we’ve seen, each creatively named after iconic lighthouses in North America. We stayed at the beautiful Minot’s Lodge, a 100-meter square corner luxury suite, which has its own well-stocked minibar and a balcony granting a magnificent panoramic view of the lake beyond. A jacuzzi sits on that balcony – the perfect spot to enjoy a drink or read a book. The property also offers an in-house massage service, a definite-must for couples looking to relax before the big event.

Since Cliffhouse is actually a complex, guests do not need to venture out to enjoy a nice meal, ensuring that all your guests would have ample time to delight in your company as well as the rest of the group. All room bookings come with an exquisite 3-course English breakfast for two. For lunch, dinner, and snacks, there are cafes and restaurants within the complex. Buon Giorno Cafe & Bistro serves Italian fare, while Concha’s Garden Cafe will treat hungry sojourners to authentic Filipino cuisine. For dessert and a caffeine fix, Rowena’s and UCC Clockwork will hit the right spots. Themed dinner nights anyone?

We highly recommend dining at Fire Lake Grill. With Chef Paul Huang on its helm, guests can enjoy mouthwatering rib eye steaks, fresh seafood entrees, and classic desserts with a local twist. The menu here is perfect for celebrations like an intimate pre-wedding dinner party, which you could transition into a swinging, private party in your room or across an extensive, private balcony overlooking the lake.

The wedding venue here at Cliffhouse is called Clear Water House. This charming garden is just the right setting for a rustic outdoor wedding of up to 350 guests. At night, with all the fairy lights aglow, this space turns into a romantic haven. It’s truly an excellent venue to celebrate love with close friends and family in a comfortable, ideal setting.

2. Discovery Country Suites

Tagaytay is a favorite when it comes to destination weddings because of the great view, gentle climate, and slower pace. It’s very conducive to rest and relaxation, which would greatly benefit the tired bride and groom-to-be. Discovery Country Suites leverages their location’s natural charms by providing an upgraded bed & breakfast-style abode, made to feel personal and exclusive by an expertly-trained staff.

This manor is made up of seven suites named and decorated after seven magnificent cities around the world. All the rooms are spacious with roomy ensuite bathrooms, and most offering a porch or a veranda where guests can sit and enjoy a delicious breakfast while taking in the picturesque scenery beyond. Each morning of our stay here was a delight as we always had a leisurely-long breakfast that almost-always extended too close to early lunch.

What sets this property apart is the award-winning Restaurant Verbena headed by Chef Jayjay Sycip. Chef Sycip and his team use fresh ingredients from the locale to create true culinary masterpieces which are just delectable pieces of art. Couples who’d like privacy for their special day (or even the days leading up to and after it) can rent the whole place out!

This package is called Exclusively Yours, which gives guests exclusive use of all the premises except Restaurant Verbena Couples can feel right at home with up to 25 of their closest family and friends and enjoy a special prepared menu for their party.

What made our stay at Discovery Country Suites so memorable was the level of personalized service that you are pampered with the moment you step on the lobby. We were presented with fresh welcome drinks and flowers upon arrival, which was such a pleasant surprise. Our favorite would be the wine & cheese served at sundown. They also serve milk and cookies for turndown. Feel like having a movie night? They also serve juice and popcorn for this! The entire property staff knew our names and went out of their way to make us feel truly at home – a signature mark of the Discovery brand.

Our suite had a direct access to the heated outdoor jacuzzi, which was convenient. Though they don’t have a dedicated spa within the premises, the property was able to arrange for one and the in-room massage we got was top-notch and easily one of the best 60-minute massages we’ve had! A delightful mix of top of the line cuisine and a level of service which we could say is one of the best in the industry, Discovery Country Suites truly offers the complete staycation package.

3. Nara Hill

Nestled within lush gardens overlooking the glistening waters of Taal Lake is Narra Hill. Those who sincerely want to disconnect and just get away from it all will love it here. This peaceful slice of Tagaytay offers 4 modern adaptations of the traditional-style Filipino nipa huts or kubos that blend an ingenious mix of local materials with contemporary fixtures and amenities – and 2 premium rooms for their guests to stay in. Each one is fully air-conditioned and has the necessary amenities for an overnight stay.

What makes Narra Hill stand out is how guests can really go “off the grid” here. The rooms do not have televisions or wifi or even LTE signal for mobiles. This back-to-basics experience will really push people to enjoy the present, the nature that surrounds them, and the pleasure of the company they’re with.

Instead of spending time looking at ceaseless screens, guests can take a dip in the small outdoor pool by the kubos or in the infinity pool by the premier suites. There’s also a spa with two massage rooms, a hot tub, and a sauna. During our stay, we exquisitely enjoyed our in-room massage at dusk, complete with a massage table and aromatic oils. Every endearing aspect and thoughtful feature of this lovely property – the sumptuous meals, the dedicated personal service of its capable staff, the spacious baths replete with the accompanying view, even the local taho served right at your doorstep – is all taken a notch higher with a unique, resplendent vista of Tagaytay’s magical ridges that’s unique to Narra Hill. Far different from the usual overlooking view of the lake, this sprawling property affords you a closer vantage point of Taal plus a sweeping side view of Tagaytay’s ranges which appears endlessly dreamy, covered in an early morning or late afternoon fog.

For weddings, Narra Hill offers but one package – exclusive use of their premises. From 7:00 AM to 12 midnight, the celebrants can do the preparations, ceremony, and reception without interruption from non-guests. Unlike other wedding venues, Narra Hill allows the couple freedom to choose whichever caterer they want without charging a hefty corkage fee.

Ceremonies are usually held in the open garden while receptions take place in the elevated pavilion. This roofed events space has floor-to-ceiling windows that give guests an uninterrupted view of a Taal sunset. The bar here overlooks a creek, a lagoon, a waterfall, and two gardens. It’s just the right venue for a wedding that’s not too big but not too intimate either. The ambiance, however, is one of the most romantic there is, especially at night.

4. Qiwellness Living

Qiwellness Living fuses centuries-old Chinese practices and decor with edgy, modern flavor and top of the line amenities and services. Arriving guests are greeted with a strike of a traditional chau gong, elegantly announcing their arrival. This is followed by a crisp, welcome cocktails in the properties’ exquisite, overlooking balcony which gives you one of the best ridge views of the iconic volcano and lake. We suggest you go before 5 pm to fully enjoy the view and wait for the gentle sunset – drinks in hand, this alone is worth the trip.

There are but two options when it comes to accommodations, called “the guesthouse”. The room called “Escape” is for couples who’d like to do just that – escape a busy life and spend a night in seclusion. The “Eunuchs & Concubines” room is ideal for a group of 4 to 6 guests who want a relaxing getaway, perfect for your pre-wedding bridal party with the girls.

Their in-house spa center is called “the bathhouse” and it offers different kinds of massages and spa packages. All checked-in guests can avail of a free 45-min foot reflexology massage and a 90-min silk signature massage. This includes access to the yin-yang hot & cold soaking pools, which we tried and thoroughly enjoyed before getting our massages. Going between strikingly different temperatures seems like a recipe for a cold, but the contrast strikes a comfortable balance in our bodies and is actually quite stimulating.

The Qireflexology for two by the adjacent pools overlooking the lake can be availed anytime between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm, or at 11:00 am the following day of your stay. It is honestly one of the best reflexology massages we’ve had among the properties in the ridge and coupled with it’s graphic, modern interiors and distinct design style makes for a remarkable experience.

All overnight guests are also offered a complimentary breakfast of Chinese congee and dimsum. We enjoyed ours out on the deck in full view of the scenic Taal Lake as the backdrop. The comforting flavors paired with the calm scenery was one of our favorite memories in this place. We also had a romantic candlelight dinner for two and tried the 10-course “Yin Yang” degustation menu at the teahouse made up of succulent numbers like tuna tartare plus caviar, lapsang suchong smoked prawn, foie gras paté, and veal cheeks. The quality is honestly almost a steal for its price. Be prepared for a gastronomic delight.

As a wedding venue, Qiwellness Living is perfectly sized for intimate weddings of up to 40 people. The ceremony can take place at the teahouse’s open deck where couples can say “I do” surrounded by Tagaytay’s majestic cool breeze. The reception can be held at the three dining spaces – right there at the open deck, in the open courtyard, or inside the dining hall with a great lake view. Couples who want to their “big day” to actually be a cozy one shared with their closest family and friends will find Qiwellness Living a very fitting, dream venue.

The AllureWeddings All-Inclusive Plan Revolutionizes Wedding Videography & Photography for your Big Day

In this issue, we take a deeper dive to discover what AllureWeddings, featured as one of our Noteworthy Wedding Videographers this year, has to offer you for your wedding journey. Their All-Inclusive Plan introduces a creative and wholesome approach to wedding photography & cinematography, perfect if you are the kind who put experience first.

You spend many months planning and preparing for this special day, yet on the actual day, it flashes by in an instant. We all know the feeling of missing a shot, moments when you wished your eyes could take pictures. Trust us, there will be countless moments like these. A wedding videographer and photographer will not only help you capture these moments, but also preserve beautiful memories that can last you a lifetime.

As there are so many vendors to choose from, it can be quite a daunting task to select your wedding videographer and photographer. Besides, considering factors such as inclusions, coverage, edits, cost… you still would like to find one you can clique with. What if there was an easy way to have everything taken care of? AllureWeddings aims to simplify the entire process for you with their All-Inclusive Plan. Unlimited shoots, and unlimited edits. No more add-ons. Sounds too good to be true? Read on to discover what is in store for you.

1. Selecting the best crew

Han, the founder of AllureWeddings, was exposed to weddings from a young age of 13. His father would let him help out carrying lights and batteries for his crew. Who knew then that Han’s weekend adventures would have a heavy influence on his career, as he now is in his 10th year capturing professional wedding documentary.

Having helped countless number of couples, and worked with over a hundred photographers & videographers, he knows exactly what to look out for when selecting a wedding day crew. Being hardworking does not mean they have the eye for the job. Having a good eye for the job doesn’t mean they have the right attitude towards weddings. Years of experience has taught Han what to look out for and who better to curate your crew than the Director himself.

2. The Best of Singapore Videography

AllureWeddings documents weddings in a creative and professional way. Testament to their works is being awarded Best of Singapore Videography by Singapore Tatler 4 years running since 2015. Their wedding videos and photos are able to both capture the smallest of details and highlight special moments. Each one of their signature creations is brimming with romance. Check out their portfolio here.

3. Enjoy Unlimited Filming & Photography

Conventional wedding packages in the market are usually limited by hours, and number of crew. The most common offering are 5-hour or 10-hour packages, supposedly for half-day or full-day weddings. To avoid service top-ups, your wedding program has to adhere to these packages, and figuring out which part of the day requires more cameramen requires experience, and more than a couple of wild guesses. It is also very common for weddings to start very early or end very late, incurring additional charges.

Sensing that there is room for improvement, AllureWeddings launched their All-Inclusive Plan for couples that are looking for a simple and comprehensive solution to fulfil their videography and photography journey. At a flat fee, couples enjoy unlimited coverage and edits for their pre-wedding and actual-day wedding. You no longer need to worry about early calls or after-hour charges for their package waives all these additional fees, allowing you to be fully present on the most momentous day of a couple’s lives.

AllureWedding’s All-Inclusive Package features the following:

  • Photography + Cinematography coverage
  • Unlimited PreWedding hours with Director Han. Yes! Includes Destination PreWedding too!
  • Unlimited Solemnisation hours with Director Han and crew
  • Unlimited Wedding Day hours with Director Han and crew
  • Unlimited Edited Pre-Wedding Pictures
  • Unlimited Video Works from our ala carte selection
  • All Unedited Pre-Wedding Pictures returned in the highest resolution possible
  • Waiver of all Early Call and Late Night fees, for all cameramen. Let’s party!
  • One 12″ by 12″ Gallery Album (photo album for either Pre-Wedding or Wedding Day Photos) of 40 pages with Unlimited Photos
Click here for the All-Inclusive Plan >

4. Letting the best ideas flow

By removing the limitations, AllureWedding’s All-Inclusive Plan allows the best ideas to flow and come to live. As the package gives you unlimited hours, shoots and edits, it makes room for more creativity and coverage. The package includes unlimited prewedding hours that can include destination shoots too, which allows you to integrate these clips into your actual day video, making the video even more spectacular.

The team had an initial concern of providing such an extensive unlimited package, for it seemed too much work for both the couple and the team. But soon after launching the package, AllureWeddings realised that on top of it being a convenient one-stop solution for couples, couples are able to achieve their vision and ideas with this package. In the video below, you will see that the couple was able to shoot scenes at many iconic Singapore backdrops with this package!

5. Spectacular Destination Shoots

Destination shoots are now a hot trend among couples. In addition to having a variety of spectacular, unique backdrops for your shoot, you also get to go on a vacation! Only with the Allure All-inclusive Plan will you be able to go to wherever you want to and not worry about the number of days. And if you are not a globetrotter like them, then count on their vast experience with destination shoots are aplenty and includes beautiful destinations such as Cappadocia, Istanbul, New Zealand, Paris, Australia as well as closer ones to home like Hong Kong, Seoul, Bali. Check out this video that was shot in Istanbul & Cappadocia!

*excludes airfare, accommodation and transport fees. Click here for the Pre-Wedding Shoot Package.

6. Dedicated Service

AllureWedding’s All Inclusive Plan aims to take your wedding videography and photography service to a higher level. Not only do you get to shoot as much as you want, but you also get to edit as much as you want. All photos are returned to you so you will not encounter any dilemma in choosing your preferred shots. The package also includes a premium 12”x12” Gallery Album to showcase at your wedding.

Despite a number of increasing projects, Han continually strives to hand-hold his clients, giving them his personal touch and expertise. Having spent half his professional career directing Han has served some notable clients such as Dick Lee, Jim Rogers, Tay Su-Lyn and more, with the team’s professionalism and dedication, you will surely get more than you wished for. 5 Reasons Why It is The One: Revealing the LVC Promise Diamond Solitaire Ring by Love & Co.

In this issue, we introduce Love & Co.’s latest launch as they celebrate a magical love-filled season this Christmas. LVC Promise Diamond Solitaire Ring combines the meaningful design of their signature LVC Promise collection and the sparkle of their exclusive Lovemarque diamond, bringing you the best of both worlds.

Love & Co. has always been a brand that we deeply admire. On top of their quality craftsmanship and helpful service, their gorgeous (yet comfort-fit) designs make their engagement rings and wedding bands irresistible. As an established premier jeweller with international standing, Love & Co.’s specialty lies in crafting exquisite solitaires, beautiful wedding bands, and romantic bridal jewellery. Each collection is cohesive to their unique brand concept, just like the one we are about to reveal.

Every jewellery piece by Love & Co. is crafted with passion, precision, and dedication that aims to stand the test of time. We previously shared with you how Love & Co goes beyond the 4Cs, and in celebration of their anniversary brought you amazing deals. In this issue, we are delighted to carry news of their latest ring launch – the LVC Promise Diamond Solitaire Ring. Here are 5 reasons why this ring featuring your diamond of love, will be the ultimate promise ring bestowed to symbolise your adoration and commitment towards her.

1. The LVC Promise & what it stands for

The LVC Promise is Love & Co.’s most iconic collection for wedding bands till date. With this, came about the inspiration of glamming up the promise bands and extending the jewellery collection to cater to those in search for their ideal engagement ring.  A Lovemarque diamond held firmly at the heart of each ring, this marks your declaration of love that is and will always be the core of your shared journey ahead. These luxury statement pieces from the collection not only exude elegance and luxury, but as the collection name suggests, they stand for exclusivity, undying devotion, and an everlasting union between you and your lover. The launch of the new LVC Promise Diamond Solitaire Ring now allows you to add more meaning and beauty to your proposal. With this ring, it speaks of your heart’s true desire and sincerity.

2. Inspired by your marriage vows

The LVC Promise collection is a declaration of commitment, synergy, and unity, like that of a marriage. This collection, designed with your wedding vows in mind, is inspired by a bolt and a nut aligned perfectly when joined together, embodying a resolute bond not to be broken. Similar to two lovers, a bolt and a nut signify strength and unity that stems from walking in unison through trying times. The intricate design of LVC Promise exudes a positive synergy between the couple.

The five grooves featured on this luxury piece represent the main pillars behind every steadfast relationship – love, devotion, commitment, bond, and happiness. These five elements combined, they translate into a promise that holds significance. Your expression of love and verbal vows exchanged are now told and accurately depicted through this promise ring.

3. Accentuated with a Lovemarque Diamond, presenting to you the best of both worlds

The new LVC Promise Diamond Solitaire Ring combines the LVC Promise with Love & Co’s signature Lovemarque diamond. The Lovemarque diamond also known as your diamond of love is an exclusive diamond that speaks of an endless love. It can even be said to be the most romantic diamond, for every Lovemarque diamond bears an intricate rose design within, a symbol of eternal beauty and romantic love.

Using advanced proprietary technology, the Rose Hallmark is inscribed at the heart of every diamond to evoke romantic emotions through words unspoken, and aims to be the universal expression of love. Albeit invisible to the naked eye, the Rose Hallmark resonates with the fact that a loving gesture that stems and felt from one’s heart is what truly matters. Your promise of an everlasting love is encapsulated and safeguarded in this solitaire diamond. And there is more to the beauty and value of a Lovemarque diamond, which will be revealed as you read on.

4. A sparkle like no other

What’s not invisible to the naked eye is how the Lovemarque diamond sparkles. If you read our earlier issue on Love & Co., you will be familiar with what makes the Lovemarque diamond so special.  With a perfect symmetry of 8 hearts and 8 arrows, every Lovemarque diamond boasts a triple excellent cut with 57 facets.

Additionally, Lovemarque diamonds are classified under the highest (Ultimate) grade of light performance. Lovemarque diamonds are ranked highly in each of the 4 parameters when measuring a diamond’s cut – brilliance, fire, sparkle, and symmetry – giving rise to a radiant sparkle under various lighting conditions. The LVC Promise diamond solitaire will perfectly exhibit the sparkle, radiance and ardent passion in your relationship.

Internationally graded by the International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR) with stringent standards, you can be assured of its authenticity and superior quality.

5. The final reveal

Love & Co. pays attention to even the smallest of details. On top of its beauty and meaning, the LVC Promise Diamond Solitaire Ring is extremely wearable. Keeping in mind the importance of comfort and fit, Love & Co. has designed the edges of the bands to be slightly rounded in a convex shape. Unlike regular bands with straight and sharper edges, the LVC Promise band wraps around your finger in a snug and comfortable way.

When it comes to ring fittings, Love & Co. uses a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine to ensure consistency and quality in lasting comfort. The aim in using such state-of-the-art-technology is to ensure that their wedding bands are correctly sized for you and well crafted for prolonged wear, without leaving stress marks on your fingers. Regardless of your ring size, your LVC Promise ring is crafted with utmost precision to be the best fit. Love & Co. also provides complimentary cleaning services for your ring, to guard it against any daily wear and tear.

Customisation services are also available at Love & Co.. Amatara Wellness Resort – A Peaceful, Restorative & Holistic Retreat for Wellness Seekers

Sense your life’s balance and embrace the connection between your mind, body and soul, that’s Ryan and my philosophy. Living in a bustling, vibrant city can sometimes be so overwhelming and stressful that we forget to hit the pause button to check in with ourselves.

The repercussions of neglecting to be present affect our sleep, diet, mood and fitness. In favour of spontaneity, we decided to take a time out. We blocked out a weekend, each packed a carry-on luggage, flew 817 miles to Phuket and checked into Amatara Wellness Resort for a pre-honeymoon retreat. This retreat proved the right place to be amidst our worrisome wedding planning, and perhaps one of the best decisions we’ve made.

Phuket, Thailand is a tropical gem! It is blessed by serene blue lagoons, breathtaking amber sunsets, and legendary beaches. With its rich tradition in holistic, and innovative healing treatments, it is unsurprising that Phuket is a flourishing wellness destination, highly sought after by wellness enthusiasts. Amatara is situated in a tranquil corner of the idyllic island, Cape Panwa, overlooking a secluded bay lapped by the aquamarine Andaman Sea. With the benefit of travelling during a low season, we enjoyed precious downtime to reconnect with each other in this tropical sanctuary. The novel and mood-enhancing activities in our personalised itinerary allowed us to recall and re-experience the emotions in our early days of dating. Through the serene stress-free living, we let our worries wash out with the tide.

Read on to find out why Amatara Wellness Resort is the ideal honeymoon retreat to embark on for your journey to optimal wellness.

7 Reasons why Amatara Wellness Resort is the epitome of a luxurious and energising honeymoon

Amatara Wellness Resort Phuket

1. Embark on your personalised wellness journey with an insightful consultation

Amatara Wellness Resort Phuket

Prior to our 2 Day Pre-Wedding Detox program, we were issued an extensive wellness consultation form to indicate our individual health, wellbeing history, and the goals we hoped to seek guidance for during our stay.

Below were our common goals:

  • De-stress
  • Get on track with healthy habits
  • Increase mindfulness

Our private wellness consultation took place in a warm-lighted, wood-paneled office. The interior radiated calm and positive vibes that both settled and welcomed us almost immediately. Despite being an hour session, the consultation was a nurturing and enriching experience. Ken, the health and wellness specialist, helped us better understand our individual state of being. He also constructively scrutinised our issues. Some recommendations included using the nutritional supplements Ashwaganda to support adrenal glands and improve Ryan’s quality of sleep, and Shatavari a nourishing tonic for women to tackle hormonal imbalance affecting the mood which I’d been experiencing.

2. Nestle in the Ocean View Pool Villa with complete privacy

Amatara Wellness Resort PhuketJust a stone’s throw away from the infinity pool, we found our hidden Ocean View Pool Villa encompassed by towering birds of paradise plants. The generous space is artfully designed and beautifully furnished. It is embellished with traditional fine art pieces, complementary delectable healthy treats, and an opulent bathtub with a view of the sea. We did not hold back our squeals.

Amatara Wellness Resort Phuket, Thailand

To enhance this intimate honeymoon, we were treated to a personal outdoor pool with a view of the bay and complete privacy. After lunchtime, Ryan wasted no time plunging into the pool while I basked under the afternoon sun on the sunbeds. All these elements embody the laid-back, luxury environment which perfectly set the tone for our new wellness routine.

Every morning, after a restful slumber, we awoke to be greeted by the dreamy morning sunbeams. Feeling nothing but refreshed and excited to experience the day. Especially breakfast.

3. Indulge in soul-nourishing cuisine at The Retreat

“We Are What We Eat”—the pathway to optimal health starts from within. The Retreat opens exclusively for Pool Villa and Retreat guests for breakfast, spoiling us with a healthy buffet spread alongside a plethora of beverages, ranging from raw juice blends and superfood smoothies, to herbal teas and coffees. All meticulously prepared with utmost consideration for freshness and optimal nutrition.

Amatara Wellness Resort

Before we feasted by the pool over the Andaman Sea, Ryan’s ultimate morning beverage was The Retreat’s golden Turmeric shot. That antioxidant powerhouse always awakened his palate. Do try this sweet-pungent, earthy concoction to gear you up for a day of stimulating activities. However, be sure not to spill the golden juice on your clothes, it is a stubborn stain to remove!

Wellness does not end with breakfast. For lunch, the intimate lounge serves extensive calorie-counted salads, soups and mains without compromising the burst of Thai flavours we had been looking forward to. Each portion is engineered to support you feeling lighter, more energized, and to reduce the toxic load on your body. We both opted for plant-based cuisine, so if you’re in for a vegetarian mission, here are our best orders:

  1. Pumpkin Quinoa Risotto
  2. Organic Green Power Soup
  3. Thai Red Curry with Warm Soba
  4. Gluten-free banana oat pancakes
  5. Raw mango and lychee “cheeze” cake
  6. Chocolate Cake

4. Experience and learn authentic Thai cooking

Checking off the top item of my wellness travel agenda was attending an authentic Thai cooking class at The Restaurant, where we got to choose to cook the courses we had savoured earlier at The Retreat! Amatara wellness cuisine concept is deeply rooted in ancient traditions. Through the guidance of their very own Thai chefs, we discovered the foundations of using real, unrefined, free-range, whole-foods and cold pressed oils to create authentic Thai healing foods. However, the competitiveness in us caused the culinary class to transition into a culinary faceoff. In the end, we were both winners, albeit by split decision. The key takeaways for us were the inspiration to cook more consciously back home, and the enhanced awareness of how nourishing food can be when prepared in simple natural ways—without additives or refined sugars.

5. Strengthen and seek mindfulness at Yoga Sala

Practicing mindfulness and yoga accompanied by a blanket of peaceful ocean waves in the morning was unforgettable at our Yoga Sala class. Given that we are both beginners, our private yoga instructor, Luna, conducted a yoga consultation to help us gain confidence and deepen our knowledge of how meditation and yoga goes hand-in-hand to strengthen our physical, emotional and mental health. Notably, I discovered that Observational Meditation is by far the most effective technique to cope with my restlessness and fleeting mind. By recognising, encapsulating and then releasing one thought at a time in my headspace, its associated anxiety and stress begin to fade away. This meditative practice left me with a clear, balanced, and positive mind. A practice I mean to continue.

The importance of Amatara’s private sessions was notable as they made each class less intimidating and more specifically motivating. It allowed for us to address all our questions and gave us the confidence to bring this practice off the holiday mat and back home into our daily living.

6. Plunge into the infinity edge pool

Swimming adventures for Ryan went beyond our private pool to this infinity edge pool! After our morning yoga, we hurried back to swap our activewear for swimwear. In just five minutes, we brisk-walked to the pool, took a deep breath, and plunge into the cooling water.

Amatara Wellness Resort

The calm flats of the 55-meter infinity pool overlooking the secluded bay is yet another reason numerous patrons still sojourn in Amatara. If taking a dip is not your cup of tea to relax, simply order a wee dram by the poolside sun beds and immerse yourselves in a good read.

7. Recharge & find your inner peace at spa treatments

To conclude our days packed with diverse treatments, we pampered ourselves with the heavenly, signature Amatara Massage and anti-aging facial massage at twilight. Needless to say, this is the most comfortable way to recover from muscular stiffness and tension.

Not forgetting our memories of Amatara’s, and the world’s first, Thai Hammam treatment. It was a uniquely sensational experience.

Amatara Wellness Resort
Source: Amatara Wellness Resort

Amatara’s Thai Hammam honours the bathing traditions of Morocco and Turkey while adding the gentle touch of healing Thai spa therapy, and uses only 100% natural products. We underwent a marathon of cleansing stages, including: rain-showers, a steam-room, a sauna, internally heated stone beds (as depicted above), ice showers, deep body exfoliation, thermal mud therapy, and salt cave relaxation. This 105 minute journey began with a bang to our senses during the dramatic alternation of hot to cold temperatures: from fire to ice. This combination of discomfort and excitement baffled and heightened our senses in new ways. Once we reached the exfoliation stage our bodies were conditioned to relax, and by the time we concluded in the salt room our bodies had been reborn while our minds drifted in a complete state of bliss. This experience will be etched in our minds for many years to come. It remains as a story that we regale others with and an experience we thoroughly recommend trying—at least once.

It is a rejuvenating, circulatory stimulant and detoxifying treatment that promises renewing, skin-softening and healing. Do note that Hammam is not recommended for

  • Individuals sensitive to high heat
  • Skin infection, broken skin or sun burns
  • Women having their period

In case you need more reasons

In case you were looking for a third or fourth opinion: Amatara Wellness Resort has recently, and unsurprisingly, won four international hospitality awards for its dedicated world-class service and its paragon of a Luxury Spa. As the first and finest luxury spa in Phuket, the resort offers all-inclusive, personalised programs and wellness treatments that can be customized to align with your goals.

Furthermore, and almost needless to say, the Amatara staff deliver the highest level of hospitality. From the instance we arrived Amatara to our last day of this retreat, their warmth and attentiveness to our needs enhanced our experience and exceeded our expectations. They made us feel cared for and comfortable throughout our stay. In case they (you) are reading this, we pass on our sincerest thanks!

11 Things to do in Lombok for your Honeymoon

“In this issue, we take you to the magical sister island of Bali. Lombok has many gems awaiting your discovery – from the majestic Mt. Rinjani, a magical pink beach, 5-star luxury and the tranquil Gili islands, which we think might just be the next Boracay.”

The sister-island of Bali may be lesser-known, but it is no less beautiful. With white powdery sand beaches, azure blue waters and abundant marine life, for those who love the sand and sea, this is equivalent to paradise on earth. Plus, you get to escape crazy Bali crowds to enjoy a more serene vacation. Home to the second highest volcano in Indonesia, you can climb up the majestic Mount Rinjani as part of your adventure. The countryside boasts plenty of forest, wildlife, waterfalls, and villages for an authentic flavour of Indonesia.

1. Enjoy tropical island living on Gili Islands

During our trip earlier in March this year, I fell in love with the Gili Islands. On the north-western shore of Lombok, this group of 3 islands – Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno highlighted the beauty of this tropical paradise. With no cars or even motorbikes on these islands, it marks a unique experience for island-lovers. The islands are popular for scuba diving and snorkeling. A day hopping tour will take you around the 3 islands, though I would suggest you spend a full day exploring one, or even stay overnight to fully experience it!

Gili Trawangan

The largest and also most developed of the three islands is Gili Trawangan.  A must-do is to have your Instagram shots taken at the ocean swings! With many chic restaurants and bars, be sure to enjoy happy hour at 4 pm. (some even have them all day long!). A big takeaway from the Gilis was that the cocktails are really strong! Each night, there is a designated party spot on the island where everyone gathers. Packed with friendly locals, the island exudes a welcoming vibe – I can just imagine it to be the next Boracay!

Gili Meno & Gili Air

For a more laid-back atmosphere, Gili Meno is known to be a honeymooner’s paradise. With few people and long stretches of beautiful beach, Gili Meno has a more remote and serene feel. Gili Air is a happy in-between of Meno and Trawangan. There are many diving vendors at Gili Air. Most of the island goes quiet by 10 pm, though there might just be one or two party venues on the island. We saw that Gili Air has a lot of upcoming development during our visit, so we can expect it to be more exciting in a couple of months.

Travel tip: We hopped on a fast boat from Bangsal Harbour seafront (US$8.50 per pax one-way), and reached Gili Trawangan in about 20 minutes (it’s the third stop). A ferry boat will take you there for a fraction of the price (~US$1), but the journey will be about 1.5 hours. Also, you will have to wait for the boat to be filled up before it will depart. When going to  Bangsal Harbour, the taxis are not allowed to stop right the seafront. The area is cordoned off about 500 metres from the jetty, and taxis will have to drop you off earlier. There are horse carriages waiting to bring you to the jetty, and will usually ask for about US$3-5. Do not stop by any of the vendors before the seafront – they are marked up almost double the price, and will try to sell you private charters. There is an official ticket booth at the seafront, so go there to make sure you don’t get cheated. There will be some locals who will bring you to the boat from there, and you can choose to tip them for their service, though it is not necessary to do so. Locals who take your luggages for you to the boat expect to be tipped though.

2. Experience 5-star luxury at The Oberoi Lombok

The Oberoi Lombok is a luxury 5-star resort spanning over 24 acres of beachfront and lush gardens. Presenting you with views of the Gili Islands and Mount Agung, breakfast and sunset hours here are especially stunning. Located in the enchanting Medana Bay, The Oberoi Lombok has their own private jetty where you can easily jet set off to the neighbouring Gili islands, or borrow snorkeling gear to explore the house reef. Spend a lazy afternoon soaking in the serenity at the infinity pool, or indulge in pampering at The Oberoi Spa, which has open-air massage pavilions, herbal baths, jacuzzis and a steam room.

The resort houses 20 thatch-roof villas and 30 pavilions, each beautifully furnished with natural, earthy tones and styled in a traditional Sasak fashion. During our trip, we stayed at the Luxury Pavilion that came with an Ocean View. The room was charmingly rustic and presented us with a morning bay view which we could enjoy on our private balcony. Our en-suite bathroom was spacious with a walled-in courtyard that came with a lotus pond, as well as a marble bathtub that was carved into the floor.

3. Conquer Mount Rinjani, the second highest volcano in Indonesia

Standing at 3,625 metres tall, Mount Rinjani is Indonesia’s second tallest volcano (out of 130 volcanoes) and is the reason why many travellers come to Lombok. This active volcano is home to a 3-day epic climb that will have you standing atop its summit facing a jaw-dropping view of the sunrise and volcanic caldera. It presents you with a view of nature so incredible and breathtaking that we are certain you will never forget. Fair warning though, the climb does pose a challenge (as compared to Mount Bromo, where little climbing is involved). That being said, it is doable for most experienced hikers and the strong-minded. You can ascend from the village of Sembalun or from Senaru. We suggest starting from Sambalun for a better trail configuration.

On the first day, your trek starts off with a climb of 1,500 metres over 8 km, which gets pretty steep during the final 4 km (will take about 4 hours). The route is sandy and slippery, so make sure you wear good hiking shoes and bring loads of water. Trekking poles will be a big help. On your first night, you will sleep in a tent on a campsite on the crater rim or by the Segara Anak Crater Lake. The lake is located inside the caldera at the Rinjani summit. Overnight camping by the crater lake is beautiful, you can see the spectacular night sky filled with stars over the crater rim.

The second day starts in the middle of the night, for you to catch the sunrise. It is very cold at the summit, so have warm clothing with you. Definitely, have a guide with you for the climb. Porters are also available to help you with your camping equipment. Check out Hajar Trekking for your tour. Pack a ziplock bag to bring your own personal garbage down the mountain. There is a lot of trash on the mountain, don’t be one to add to it!

About 200 metres away from the main campsite is the Air Kalak Hot Springs, where you can soak away the aches and pains in the mineral waters after a tough ascend. Penimbungan Waterfall Viewpoint is also another spot you may want to add to your itinerary. The 75-metre waterfall is a two-hour trek from the Torean entrance.

4. Marvel at the amazing Rinjani view

If you are not keen on a climb, there are still other ways for you to enjoy the majestic views that Mount Rinjani has to offer. You can ride a helicopter to enjoy the aerial view of the volcano, the lake, and its surroundings. Alternatively, drive up to Pusuk Sembalun Tourist Park (Taman Wisata Pusuk Sembalun). You can enjoy unparalleled views of the mountains here without having to exert yourselves.

5. Nestle yourselves in nature & timeless romance at Tugu Hotel

Hotel Tugu Resort embodies the art, soul, and romance of Indonesia. Founder Anhar Setjadibrata & his daughter Lucienne Anhar designed the resort to warmly host guests from all around the world and showcase Indonesia’s romantic history to them through his collection of fine antiquities. Accommodations in Hotel Tugu Resort are within steps from the beach and clear sea waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling in the day. Housed in traditional buildings, the rooms feature high thatched ceilings that create a spacious and uplifting atmosphere. Each room comes with a huge four-poster bed and antique furnishings.

During our stay, we resided in the exquisite Bhagavat Gita Oceanfront Suite. On top of its spacious and comfortable interiors, the suite came with a private garden patio with daybeds and a private plunge pool. We enjoyed direct access to the beach and ocean. In front of our suite was a huge lawn where you can lay out a mat and stargaze at night. The bathroom revealed an outdoor shower with one of the largest rain showers we had seen, and the bathtub was uniquely crafted out of a rock. One of our highly anticipated moments of the day was afternoon tea. Served daily at 4 pm, we enjoyed sipping on hot tea by the pool while admiring the serene view. If you are up for exploration, a 15-minute boat ride will take you to the famed Gili Islands.

Aside from being an ideal romantic honeymoon destination, Hotel Tugu Lombok is a charming wedding venue as well. 6. See a gorgeous patchwork of fields at Bukit Pergasingan

Bukit Pergasingan is a hill that sits at around 1,700 metres above sea level. This lookout point brings you very close to seeing Mount Rinjani, but yet the hike only takes about 2-3 hours as compared to the 3-days for Mount Rinjani. One of the reasons why Bukit Pergasingan is so popular is thanks to the gorgeous view of the patchwork of fields below. They have different hues and is one of the prettiest sights you will see in Lombok. Besides hiking and scenery, you can also do paragliding, mountain biking and even camping for the sunrise at Bukit Pergasingan.

Another viewpoint that shares a similar patchwork of field plots is Bukit Selong Rice Fields that is up North of Lombok. You can drive up to the viewpoint without a drive. Do arrive before sunrise to see the view. The variety of different coloured crops gives the fields a patchwork quilt of contrasting colours. It covers the entire valley and is quite a sight to behold.

7. Marvel at a Pink Beach (Tangsi Beach)

No need to travel to the Bahamas to see a mesmerising pink beach, for it is right in Lombok! Tangsi beach, located on the island’s far-south eastern shore, is one of the 10 pink beaches in the world. The pink hue of Tangsi Beach is not as saturated as what you see in photos. In fact, the beach itself is white. It is the pink corals that gives it a peachy-hue. Visit this beach on a clear day to see the colours at its brightest under the sparkling sunlight! From Mataram city (capital of Lombok), it will take you about 2 – 2.5 hours drive to the beach. Previously, the roads leading up to this beach were very bad, causing drivers not wanting to take people here, but since June 2015, the road has been vastly improved! Though there is not much to do here, you can snorkel, and head to the nearby viewpoint that overlooks the pink beach. The cliffs of Tanjung Ringgit are also nearby and worth a visit.

8. Explore the Kuta of Lombok

Unlike its famous sister, Kuta in Lombok is smaller and quieter than Bali’s. The best way to explore the coastal town of Kuta is by a motorbike or a bicycle, so you can simply stop wherever you fancy. Kuta has a variety of restaurants and accommodations, from backpacker to 4-star offerings. Most come to Kuta to just unwind and have a peaceful day out. Most of Kuta retains a sleepy, natural character, typical of a fishing village. From here, getting to the best beaches of Lombok, such as Mawun, Tanjung Aan, and Selong Belanak is easy for they are close by (see #9 below). Kuta beach might also be worth a short visit. Kuta is about 20 minutes from the airport.

9. Relax on Lombok’s best beaches

Like Bali, Lombok also has many wonderful beaches for you to enjoy the sand and sea. The most popular are Tanjung Aan beach (East) and Mawun beach (south). Tanjung Aan has clear waters and fine sand that is almost Caribbean like! The bays are peaceful and Batu Payung, another beach with an unusual rock formation is approximately 1 km from Tanjung Aan beach. Mawun beach is great if you are staying around Kuta South. It will take you about 25 minutes, and you will see an enclosed bay flanked by two hills. The calm waters are perfect for swimming and the serene atmosphere is wonderful for a day lounging under the sun.

For other beaches, Selong Belanak Beach is great for beginner surfers. Mawi beach is also a popular surf spot on the island. Seger Beach is where most go for snorkeling. At Semeti Beach, you will see a unique landscape of volcanic rocks and caves.

10. Chase waterfalls in Lombok

The hills of Lombok is home to beautiful waterfalls. You can literally spend a day or two just chasing waterfalls for there are so many to discover! The most popular are Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep in the town of Senaru (north of Lombok). You can start the day with the Senaru sunrise, followed by the waterfalls. Sendang Gile is a two-tiered waterfall that plunges down a 31-metre cliff into a pool where you can take a dip. After which, head to Tiu Kelep waterfall, which poses a dramatic landscape. You will have to walk through some slippery dirt paths to get here and it takes about 45 minutes from Sendang Gile. Entry to the park costs IDR 10,000, excluding a guide.

Another noteworthy waterfall is Benang Stokel Waterfall. It comprises five falls near each other, the first three literally just next to each other. The other two will require a trek to reach. The curtain-like appearance of the falls is magical.

11. Watch the sunset at Bukit Merese Hill

When in Kuta Lombok, stay back and wait for the sunset at Bukit Merese Hill. The first viewpoint is just a 5-10 minute hike up the hill, and a 20 minutes hike will take you all the way to the top. Once you reach the top, marvel at the fiery orange sun as the rays reflects in the blue waters of Kuta Beach Lombok – it is truly a sight to behold.
